The Blue Room Christmas Tree was an 18½ foot Fraser Fir from Fleetwood, North Carolina with decorations representing the country through merry landscapes, neighborhoods, and the names of every state, territory, and the District of Columbia. A replica of a vintage passenger train circled the base of the tree. The train set was loaned by the Train Collectors Association. Siblings Amber Scott and Alex Church of Cline Church Nursery presented the tree to Dr. Biden on November 20, 2023.

The Blue Room holiday decorations are visible through the doorway.

For their second year in the White House, President Joseph R. Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden chose the theme, "We the People." The theme was inspired by the shared values of the American people and the promise of unity, hope, and possibility that represents America’s history. Reflection and an appreciation for what brings Americans together as a nation inspired the decorations in the Cross Hall. Ornaments for the 57 states, territories, and the District of Columbia hung on trees alongside small mirrors to showcase the reflections of the American people.

    This photograph shows President George W. Bush departing from Air Force One upon his arrival at at Offutt Air Force Base near Bellevue, Nebraska on September 11, 2001. The president went to an underground bunker at the military base to attend a videoconference meeting with Vice President Richard B. Cheney and national security advisors working from the Presidential Emergency Operations Center (PEOC) at the White House. Bush received news of the suspected terrorist attacks on the morning of September 11, 2001, while visiting Emma E. Brooker Elementary School in Sarasota, Florida, to take part in a reading demonstration. After delivering brief remarks at the school, Bush boarded Air Force One for his own protection, accompanied by roughly 65 advisors, security agents, and staff members. For the next several hours, President Bush worked from his office aboard Air Force One, where he monitored the crisis using the secure phone lines and televisions installed in the aircraft. Prior to arriving at Andrews Air Force Base for the president's return to the White House, Air Force One stopped at military bases in Louisiana and Nebraska for refueling and security purposes.

    This photograph of the entrance to the Blue Room as seen from the Cross Hall was taken by Cecil Stoughton on November 24, 1963. The Presidential Seal hangs above the entryway, which has been draped in black mourning crepe for the State Funeral of President John F. Kennedy. Following his assassination in Dallas, Texas on November 22, 1963, Kennedy's body lay in state in the East Room of the White House and the United States Capitol Building prior to burial at Arlington National Cemetery. This photograph was taken on the day the president's body departed from the White House to lie in state at the Capitol. By the flags on either side of the door are a gilded bronze light standards created by McKim, Mead & White for the 1902 White House renovations. The candle arms of the light standards were extended during First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy's redecoration of the White House.
